England Won, We’re All Tired, and It Was Absolutely Worth It
Well, England won last night, which means the nation has woken up today in one of two states.
Either triumphantly refreshed, full of national pride and ready to take on the week…
Or slightly cross-eyed from staying up too late, pretending to colleagues that we’re “absolutely fine” when really we need a strong coffee, a lie down and possibly a fanfare every time we move from one room to another.
But honestly? Wasn’t it worth it?
There’s something wonderful about those moments where we all decide, collectively, that normal bedtime rules do not apply. The match is on. England are playing. Snacks are involved. Someone is shouting at the telly as though the players can hear them. Someone else has suddenly become an expert in tactics despite only watching football once every four years.
And then England win, and for a little while, everything feels lighter.
It’s a reminder that life isn’t just about being sensible all the time. Yes, we need sleep. Yes, there are emails to answer, bins to put out, dogs to walk and washing that has somehow multiplied overnight.
But we also need the things that make us smile.
So whilst you might be a bit tired today, we wish you a lovely week ahead. May your coffee be strong, your spirits high, and may England keep giving us excellent excuses to stay up past our bedtime.
